Compliance and quality

Three controls apply to every transaction: we check who we trade with, we screen them against sanctions lists, and we have the material independently inspected.

  • Know your counterparty

Before we sign a contract, every buyer and supplier goes through know-your-customer (KYC) and anti-money-laundering (AML) checks. We confirm who we are dealing with, who owns and controls the company, and that the business is legitimate.

Expect us to ask for company registration documents and identification of directors and beneficial owners at the start of a relationship.

  • Sanctions screening

Counterparties are screened against international sanctions lists before we trade with them. We do not trade with sanctioned parties.

  • Independent inspection and assay

Material is sampled and assayed by an independent inspection company at the loading port. The assay result is the basis for confirming the specification and, where the contract provides for it, for final price adjustments.

Where buyer and seller disagree on a result, contracts can provide for umpire analysis by a third laboratory.
